Young
Achievers Awards 2001
GKC honored
its first YOUNG ACHIEVERS at an Award Presentation Ceremony at one of the Hotels
in Subang Jaya. The ceremony, full of glitters and grandeur, honored nine excellent
achievers, aged between 12 to 16, who were given special tributes and standing
ovation, witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato' Dr. Hajjah Siti Zaharah
Haji Sulaiman, the Minister of National Unity and Social Development. . (Click

Best Children's TV Program 2001 Award
The Golden
Kids Club TV show took home the award for "Best Children's TV Program 2001
Award" in the prestigious Anugerah Sri Angkasa awards held at the Merdeka
Hall in Putra World Trade Centre on July 29th 2001.
Our associate TV show
"Interesteens" also bagged an award for "Best Teenage TV Program
2001 Award".

Special Documentary on
Children of Iraq
GKC
recently held a preview of a documentary that the club had filmed during its recent
trip to Iraq for the Ambassador of Iraq, His Excellency Adnan Malik Al-Ghazali
and journalists from the local media.The documentary hopes to create awareness
of the after-effects of war on children.

A DAY WITH THE OLD FOLKS
The
presenters together with their parents and TV crews visited an old folks home
"Lovely Nursing Centre" in Kelana Jaya. They chatted with the men and
women housed there and listened to their plights. They donated RM1,100 to the
home and a week later, seven of the men were invited to attend a Father' s Day
celebration at Holiday Villa Subang with the presenters.

Contribution to Persatuan Kesihatan Mesra Kanak-kanak
Negara Malaysia
Recently,
GKC presented this association with a donation of RM5000. This association was
set up with an objective to provide children with the best medical service and
care to children in Malaysia. The cheque was presented to Ybhg Datin Endon
Mahmod, the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister.

May 3 -
MISSION TO IRAQ
From
13th to 19th march. 7 presenters of GKC left together with the delegation from
the Ministry of Health for an official visit to Iraq. The objective of this mission
is to highlight the desperate plight of the innocent children of Iraq to other
children in Malaysia and to give their moral support to these unfortunate children.
During the trip, the GKC presenters donated a variety of gifts to the children
of Iraq which include large assortment of chocolates, pencils, coloured crayons,
pens, books, balloons and nutritional drinks.

HANDMADE GREETING CARDS FOR IRAQI CHILDREN
Inspired
by YABhg Dato Seri Dr Siti Hasmah' s plea to highlight the plight of Iraqi children
and promote the lifting of sanctions, the GKC presenters made the first step towards
the call. They made cards that are sketched, drawn and painted with various messages
to express their feeling and sympathy towards their fellow peers in Iraq. The
children handed over their cards to the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, His
Excellency Adnan Malik Al-Ghazali, who appeared to be deeply moved by the kind
wishes of GKC. He accepted their messages on behalf of his country' s children
and agreed to forward their messages to Iraq.

February 21-
LAUNCH OF WEBSITE AND KIDz STUDIO
The
presenters performed a splendid show at the launch of the Kidz Studio. They recited
a poem entitled " For the First Lady" to YAB Dato' Seri Dr Siti Hasmah
Mohd Ali. They also performed a malay dance, a latin dance, and a violin solo
to the delight of all the honoured guests.
