Anthony
Tan Chien Liang is a responsible, disciplined young man who is aware of his duties
to the community. Among his many involvements in important issues affecting the
world today are the Coursework and Study on Environmental Education at Woodbury
Boston Environmental School in Torbay, Australia (1999) and the Anti-vandalism
Campaign by the Kuala Lumpur City Council (1997). Besides those, he also attended
the International Children's Conference on the Environment in Terengganu, Malaysia
(1998) where he voiced his views on water management.
Anthony
has always been concerned with social issues. He participated in a Conference
on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (2002) organized by the Family Planning
Association of Malaysia. With his experience in broadcasting, he held the position
of Publicity and Media Relations Sub-committee Chairman for the organizing of
a Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Charity Gala Dinner, held recently in December
2002.
A
giving person in nature, Anthony does not mind spending time and effort in volunteer
activities. During the Commonwealth Games 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, he helped out
as a student volunteer. Despite these extra-curricular activities, Anthony manages
to do very well in school, scoring straight A's in the national examinations UPSR
and PMR. His leadership qualities have helped in his responsibilities as Head
Prefect (Student Leader) twice, in 1999 and 2002. Currently, Anthony, having done
well in the SPM examination, is doing his A-levels in Sekolah Sri Cempaka Cheras.
He is always grateful for having been given opportunities in life by the Golden Kids Club and has taken part in many GKC activities and motivational programmes. Besides getting involved in charity events organized by the GKC, Anthony rarely passes the chance to meet his fellow GKC' s.
